How we test

We buy it, we use it, we tell you the truth.

Most review sites earn from clicks whether or not the product is any good. We are built the other way round. The verdict comes first; the link is incidental.

We buy every tool ourselves

No press accounts. No gifted licences. No review units. We pay the same price you would, on the same plan you would. A company cannot put us on a list of favourable reviewers because we are not on anyone's list.

We test against real workflows

We do not read a spec sheet and summarise it. We run each tool through the actual job a faceless creator would use it for, generating real output, for around six weeks per category, before we write anything. A microphone gets recorded with. A voice tool gets a script run through it. If it breaks under real use, that is the review.

We publish what we would not buy

Most tools in a category are not worth your money. We say which ones, by name, and why. A review that recommends everything is an advert. Ours will tell you to skip the thing we just linked if skipping it is the right call.

How we make money

Some links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes a verdict, and we cap the number of affiliate links per piece to whatever the recommendation actually needs. The full detail is in our FTC disclosure and Amazon Associates disclosure.

Who writes this

isthisyourownai is an independent, operator-run review site focused on the AI tools and gear that faceless content creators actually use. We are deliberately brand-first rather than personality-led: the work should stand on its testing, not on a face. One operator, real testing, published weekly.
